Dear Sally,
We are excited to kick off the new year with the removal of the first billboard along A1A in Flagler County!  The ceremony was attended by longtime members of the conservation groups from Flagler Beach and the Hammock who have been committed to A1A along with newcomers who bring additional energy and ideas to the organizations.
Sincere appreciation is sent to Flagler County Administrator Craig Coffey and the commissioners who worked with Jim Cullis to make the removal possible.
Friends of A1A Scenic & Historic Coastal Byway will host a number of signature events in 2014.  Volunteers are needed to ensure success and share our passion for the byway.  If you are interested in being involved, we would love to have your help!

We are excited to be a part of the Flagler Fine Art Festival's Inaugural "Assemblage Art Challenge" on February 16th! The items that will be used in this unique challenge were collected during the 2013 International Coastal Cleanup by local volunteers.  Participants will choose a mystery bag to work with during the five hour competition.  Artists JJ Graham and Harry Messersmith will judge the entries to determine the winner of the $500 cash prize.  To sign up, visit Flagler Fine Art Festival.

     Developments along the Byway
The latest version of the A1A Scenic & Historic Coastal Byway's map is finished and will be ready to share with visitors to our area in the next few weeks.   The updated map can be found around the state at locations that provide information to travelers and those interested in the St. Johns and Flagler area.
A special thank you to our business partners at the Flagler Tourist Development Council, Palm Coast and the Flagler Beaches, The City of St. Augustine Beach and The St. Johns Tourist Development Council.
The addition of business partners on the map offers increased opportunities for expanded visibility of your business to visitors (and locals).   Proceeds help fund educational programs like the Environmental Education Fair in May and the Cell Phone Audio Tour which provides historical information about landmarks along scenic A1A.
For more information on the Business Partner Program contact Brian London, Business Development Director at

Friends of A1A Scenic & Historic Coastal Byway is rolling out a new membership program that will offer incentives to members through partnerships with local retailers and restaurants.  Keep an eye out for details during the month of February.
We will look for you around the way!
