Small Business Saturday encourages shoppers to Shop Small
The Illinois River Road National Scenic Byway strongly supports Small Business Saturday, November 30, 2014.  This is a grassroots effort to encourage shopping in communities' locally-owned businesses the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
There is a SBS banner on's home page, and we'll be posting Facebook reminders about it as well. Businesses and communities are welcome to post SBS specials and offers on the Illinois River Road Facebook page, too!
If you're interested in getting your business or community involved in Small Business Saturday, click HERE for more info.
Wintering Eagles Draw Visitors
We Need Your Eagle Events!
Spring, Summer and Fall aren't the only visitor seasons for the Illinois River Road region.  Bald eagles, abundant in the winter months, are a big draw for the Illinois River Valley.

The Illinois River Road is featuring winter eagle-watching and related events happening throughout the Byway region, from Ottawa to Havana.

Submit your eagle day event to our online event calendar. It will be posted on the event calendar, and in the 2014 Eagle Events.

Earlier this month on Facebook, we shared a  Glimpse of Princeton. This Byway Gateway Community has many of our designated nature sites nearby, in addition to great shopping and an Amtrak stop to boot!
Specialty shops in Princeton do an outstanding job of enticing visitors to make a stop - from shoppers being able to hear music as they step out of their cars to beautifully decorated store fronts and sandwich boards - Princeton has curb appeal!
